THE ‘PAPPA’ WORLD OF 2
// June 3rd, 2009 // No Comments » // Dining
I have seen Pappa Kopitiam several times while driving from office to meetings or appointments. But I have never tasted their food.
On a weekend, I was spending some quality time with Ivy at Sunway Pyramid. Nearly dinner time, we passed by Pappa Rich and decided to have our dinner there.
For the last couple of years, we have noticed that lots of kopitiams have been mushrooming in all major towns. They all offer similar food and, often brand up the authenticity of their coffee and local food.
However, for Pappa, I held up a higher expectation, because a few friends have recommended me to try out.
Stepped in with Ivy, it was quite packed with diners and mostly were families. Firstly I noticed the candle chandelier hung from the plank wood ceiling, it created a more classy ambience comparing to other kopitiam.
2 seating types are available, the black leather bench and usual dining table. We picked the dining table.
I quite liked Pappa’s menu. With a good glance, you would easily find your favorite. Also, the food and drinks on the menu looked so alluring.
As I was still scanning through the menu, Ivy had decided to have Char Koay Teow and Cendol. Moments later, I decided to go for one of their specialties, Roti Bakar and Kopi.
The food was finally served. Ivy’s Char Koay Teow looked incredibly tempting and authentic. I scooped up a spoonful of Koay Teow without asking. Koay Teow was so soft and flavorful. It’s of course oily, but not excessive. If not, Char Koay Teow would never be your choice then. Other ingredients, like bean sprouts, prawns and cockles were very fresh either.
Cendol is always a better match for Char Koay Teow. Sweet. Sweet. Sweet.
Finally, Roti Bakar (toast bread) and Kopi (Malay word, means coffee) were sitting in front of me. Kaya tasted so homemade. The smooth cold butter was given. The crunchy Roti Bakar sitting next to the 2 main components, it’s indeed an authentic combination. The Kopi was a little strong and bitter.
After a fulfilling meal, and the bill came. The total was RM25.75.
Ivy and I were satisfied with both the meal and amount. The actual reason was, we finally got this real date.
